Vanita White was born in Atlanta, Georgia and her family moved to Dallas shortly after she was born and have called Dallas home ever since. Vanita graduated from Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, TX and received her BBA from the University of Texas. She went to work for Dillard’s Department Stores, but quickly decided to go to law school to fulfill a dream of becoming an attorney. She attended Texas Wesleyan University School of Law and graduated in December 1996.
After receiving her law degree, Vanita joined the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office in June 1997 where she prosecuted misdemeanor and felony offenses for 12 years. While at the DA’s Office, Vanita specialized in handling cases in Child Abuse, Organized Crime and the Mental Health Divisions. After quickly being promoted, she served as Deputy Chief over the Misdemeanor Division for 4 years. Vanita left the District Attorney’s Office In March 2009 in search of new challenges as a criminal defense attorney.
Vanita has been married to her husband, Jacob, for almost 7 years. The couple has 1 daughter named Katelyn who is 4 years old. Vanita and her family reside in Dallas, TX.
Vanita is a member of numerous legal associations. She is also an active member of Junior League of Dallas, where she has volunteered countless hours at Catholic Charities, East Dallas Community School, and Gilda’s Club. As a breast cancer survivor of 3 years, Vanita is also active in supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Vanita is ready to serve the citizens of Dallas County as Judge of County Criminal Court #4.
